Tribute to Eyvind Earle

Cañada College - Student Work

A tribute piece to the great background artist Eyvind Earle. I tested out a brush set created by Kyle T. Webster. I used a combination of watercolor brushes to create the feeling and style of this piece.

Succulent Sushi

Cañada College - Student Work

The artwork was created in the style of “trompe l’oeil” which is French for “to deceive the eye”. The digital illustration is only 4 in x 5 in and created in a hyper-realistic style. When compared to the photo it is hard to discern the two apart.

My Surreal Future

Self-Driven

The sky is no longer the limit. “My Surreal Future” won first place in the San Mateo County Fair in 2018, under the category of watercolor painted portraits.

Dusk Dragon

Self-Driven

A rolling landscape leads up to a friendly appearing  dragon. I wanted to play with colors likely found in dusk sunsets. Keeping the color pallet to soft pastel hues creates a gentle and soothing atmosphere.

Veloster Rally Edition

Self-Driven

A Mars like landscape is perfect for this quirky Hyundai. The car has three passenger doors, what more can I say? The artwork was created for the car’s dash screen and used a combination of photography, digital filter effects and finished off with digitally painted techniques.

Penciled Pinaple

Cañada College - Student Work

Restricted by one type of fine Photoshop brush, this pineapple owes its look to disciplined and meticulous work. The image source is from my own photography work.

Hope

Self-Driven

I created the artwork “Hope” using a Clip Studio as a challenge to try out a new program. The thought behind the style and content was complex. I was inspired by the idea of rebirth and the constant changing of one thing into another. Things are not what they seem in the eyes of time.

Begonia chlorosticta

Self-Driven

The illustration is based on B. chlorosticta which is found in Malaysia. I infused the Malaysian tribal culture with the origins of this plant.  Check out the draft version!

Just Another Selfy

Self-Driven

A fiery obsession with modern technology has lead to the endless hunt for the perfect self portrait. I wanted “Just Another Selfy” to be bright and sharp. The artwork began as a grayscale painting and exploded with color.

1000 to 1

Self Driven

The illustration was made digitally and inspired by the environmental impact of urbanization of habitats. I wanted the buck to appear to be weighed down by the small community resting on its horns. Small kites, winding stairways, and smoke can be seen.

Inktober 2018

Self Driven

Using the 2018 prompt for Inktober, I created a developing storyline based on a magical realm that still contains mythical beasts like unicorns.
