I'm Hannah-Joy

Hello there! You have come to the right page if you wish to learn a bit more about me. I am a humble Aussie girl who grew up in Perth, Western Australia. Surprisingly, Perth is the most remote city in the world due to the nearest major city being 1327 miles away, but it is a wonderful place to live and
grow up. Although I have spent most of my youth in Perth,
I haven’t always lived there, as my family moved from place
to place. I have spent time in  Whyalla, South Australia- which, in my opinion, has the best beach in the world- and Geraldton, which is a dusty town that is a 4.5-hour drive north from Perth. I now reside in the Bay Area of California with my husband Nicholas, a Bay Area native and an amazing nurse.

From an early age, I found pencil and paper to be a fun escape from reality. My peers and teachers encouraged me to use my talents and seek a path to work in the creative industry. After completing high school, I began studying Graphic Design and Illustration at TAFE, in Perth. I completed my Advanced Diploma of Graphic Design at TAFE in 2009  and successfully achieved my Bachelor of Arts of Graphic Design in 2011 at Curtin University. Over the years I worked for a few different companies around Perth both casually and full-time. I worked on graphics for logos, flyers, banners, signs, and illuminated signage at “It’s A Sign Company”. I also gained printing experience at Budget Print where I prepared artwork for the digital printer. At Hallmark Signs, I learned how to use a vinyl cutter and worked on signs in SignWizard and logos in Adobe Illustrator, one of which the company still has in use today.

I have quite a few hobbies and of course one of them is Art! My other hobbies include photography, growing my beloved Begonias, driving my pride and joy, a 2016 Rally Edition Veloster, and playing video games. Would you believe me when I say that, video games have changed my life the most? Not possible? Well, had I not picked up a cute free-to-play 2D game back in 2008, I would not have met my soul mate Nicholas nor moved to California. Talk about a life-changing event. Our relationship grew over the years and we visited each other several times in Australia and San Francisco. After spending 8 years in a long-distance relationship, we couldn’t spend the 9th year apart and got married in 2017. We have been inseparable ever since.

Since moving to the bay area I have worked at BraveMaker as an animation intern and assisted Cañada College’s Marketing team as a student assistant graphic designer. What am I up to now? I’m working towards a 3D Animation and Videogame Art Certificate of Achievement at Cañada College and working for the College’s marketing team as a Visual Communications Coordinator.  That is all there is to the story so far!
